Minnie Spottedwolf was born on June 20, 1923, at Heart Butte, Montana.  Her family were members of the Blackfeet Indian Tribe and she grew up on her family’s isolated ranch on White Tail Creek about 15 miles northeast of Heart Bute where they raised cattle, sheep and horses.  Although Minnie was slight in stature she became adept at raising animals, was reportedly very good at breaking horses and had the reputation of being able to outride men into her early 50s.
