Craig Ferguson was born and raised in Cumbernauld, Scotland.

Ferguson grew up as a Scottish Presbyterian, but his memories of religion growing up aren't very rosy.

He said that the bitter conflict between Protestants and Catholics in northern Ireland, which spread into western Scotland, was what defined his initial views of religion:
